To my dear son John-Michael

Dear John-Michael,
it is very difficult to write to you as we have not had contact for so long
that I honestly do not know how much English if any you understand, neither
do I know much about you other than what I hear from others.
It is very sad and disgusting situation that has been allowed to occur.
You are however now a sub-adult, your are no longer a child, you do know
what has happened and what continues to happen. You do know the difference
between right and wrong. Therefore I do expect a certain degree of maturity
and responsibility from you, I do expect you to act like a Hickman, I expect
you to stand up for your rights and to help your brother Sebastian to stand
up for his rights. You can not carry on to simply accept such blatant disregard
for your basic human rights. In particular I expect you to stand up against
fascism, no Hickman would ever put up with such blatant violations or his
rights, certainly not your father or your grandfather or your great grandfather
would have tolerated what is going on here in Wilhelmshaven.
I will only be in Germany for a few days more and if circumstances remain
as they are I will most probably never ever want to return to this disgusting
fascist society in Wilhelmshaven that so deliberately and blatantly violates
human rights.
I therefore do not need to point out the fact to you that if you want to
get to speak to me and to know me, time is fast running out as it will be
far more difficult for you once I have left.
I on my part certainly do expect my first born son to stand up against the
injustice and violation of his rights and those of his younger brother. You
can of your own free will come to see me or you can certainly pick up the
telephone and phone me, even if those around you do not realise that we live
in a free society, they certainly can not stop you from seeing me. I have
a pile of flying magazines, national geographic magazines and a number of
other bits and pieces for you and Sebastian, I also have a few of my things
here that I would like you to take care of for me such as by racing cycle
and some very special plants that I brought with me from South Africa, one
of which is the only one of it's kind, so I expect you to contact me soon.
Once I have left Germany if you so desire you can at any time come to me
and no one on this earth can ever stop you from doing so if that is what
you want. I will certainly stand by you if you decided to exercise your authority
over those who have to date so blatantly denied you your rights to a father
and to the self determination to have contact to him. As said if you want
to come to see me at any time or in particular you would like to leave Germany
for good and come to stay with me I will make it possible and no one can
ever stop me.
I expect you as a Hickman to stop being a victim of circumstances and of
fascism, I expect you to be a winner and with a little help from me and your
uncles you certainly will become a winner. If however you continue as at
present I do not have a very good prognosis for your future as Germany is
fast going down the drain in every possible respect and without a little
help from your Hickman family it is not going to be easy for you.
Your father will always be there for you in your time of need
Your loving and caring father
