The name Hickman is an old one,
and appears in history at least as far back as the thirteenth century. Two
Hickmans (Sir John and Sir Roger) were knighted by Edward III King of England
for their part in his French wars; they were Hickmans of Bloxham, Oxfordshire,
in whose descendants we shall presently become interested. By one the of
the coincidences of history that King was the ancestor of two women who both
married Hickmans of Oldswinford in the eighteenth century.

The Hickman DNA project is open
to all male Hickmans.
Our goal is to establish family connections between
the various branches of the Hickman family.
Surnames in Project:
Heckman, Hickman, Hickmann, Hickmon, Higman, Hyckman
Project Goals:
The Hickman dna
project is an attempt to establish connections between the various
branches of the Hickman family. All male Hickmans are eligible
to participate. We hope that representatives of both the English
and German lines become involved so we will be able to assign members
to either one or the other group. In addition, individuals whose
family history is well documented are especially encouraged to participate
so that those with less documentation will be able to establish themselves
with branches with known lines of descent.
